The EU’s tightened requirements make precise geodata and AIXM documentation essential for airports. Geopartner ensures that Sønderborg Airport meets the new standards.
Ever more stringent EU requirements for the security and quality of data mean that the need for precise and accessible data about critical infrastructure has now become essential. This applies to airports too. For Sønderborg Airport, this means that there are new requirements for up-to-date geodata, structured surveying and documentation in AIXM format, which can be integrated with the accuracy airspace users demand. Geopartner Landinspektører A/S has the professional geodata and surveying expertise the airport needs to meet these new requirements.
The collaboration originated during a construction project at Sønderborg Airport, where the survey was led by Geopartner’s land surveyor, Erik Bay. This led to a collaboration in which Geopartner’s technical expertise can help the airport to ensure compliance with these new standards that will become a necessary element of maintaining operations and ensuring safety and security.
The collaboration between Geopartner and Sønderborg Airport involves surveying and the management and distribution of data. Geopartner’s own Map Connect WebGIS solution is used for the actual management and distribution of the data.
The Map Connect platform is dynamic and scalable, allowing survey data to be directly converted to the AIXM 5.1 format. This solution allows Sønderborg Airport to maintain accurate, up-to-date aeronautical data that is compliant with European standards. The system facilitates the sharing of data with service providers such as Naviair, while also ensuring that all data is both transparent and traceable at all times.
Sønderborg Airport’s deal with Geopartner is one of the first contracts concluded by a Danish airport for a solution to not only satisfy current requirements, while also being ready for what the future may bring.
– We create security for the airport by ensuring that their data is completely up-to-date and accessible in the AIXM format, which means that it also happens to be ready for the next step, Asger Nielsen, Eurocontrol-certified Geopartner land surveyor.
Geopartner has already completed most of the surveying work. Once all this data has been processed and converted, the airport will therefore be able to quickly and easily update and access their data in Map Connect.
Geopartner’s know-how and broad spectrum of professional competences make them an ideal partner for Sønderborg Airport.
– This is exactly where our competences lie. We have an on-the-shelf product [Map Connect] that we can deploy and adapt to the airports’ needs, explains Asger Nielsen.
A solution like Map Connect is indispensable. Not only does it ensure the airport’s access to precise data; it also uses a system that can be easily expanded to also include additional data sets, with the option of geographic location.
Geopartner’s assistance means that Sønderborg Airport is one step ahead. This solution allows the airport to achieve compliance with the Danish Transport Authority and EU requirements, while also ensuring safety and security in operations.
We look forward to this collaboration and to start using Map Connect. Securing and validating data linked to airports and airfields is a high priority focus area via the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). We are convinced that Geopartner is the right choice of business partner in this regard.
